TANGY APPLE RING SALAD 
2 c. applesauce
1 (6 oz.) pkg. lemon gelatin
1 (12 oz.) can (1 1/2 c.) lemon-lime carbonated pop
1 tsp. finely grated orange peel
1/4 c. orange juice
1 c. chopped apple
2 tbsp. chopped walnuts
Mayonnaise or salad dressing (optional)

In pan, heat applesauce just until it bubbles. Stir in gelatin. Cook and stir over medium low heat until gelatin is dissolved. Remove from heat. Cool to room temperature. Stir in pop, orange peel, and orange juice. Chill until partially set (consistency of beaten egg whites). Stir in apple and nuts. Turn into a 4 or 5 cup ring mold. Chill until firm.

To serve, unmold onto plate. Serve with mayonnaise or salad dressing. Makes 8 servings.
