BAKED ALASKA PIE 
1 (5 oz.) pkg. Lorna Dune cookies, crushed
1/2 c. finely chopped nuts
1/3 c. brown sugar
4 tbsp. melted butter

FILLING:

1/2 gal. vanilla ice cream
3 egg whites
6 tbsp. sugar
1/8 tsp. cream of tartar

Mix crust ingredients and spread into a well coated (Pam) 10 inch pie pan. Work mixture with fingers to form a pie crust. Bake at 325 degrees for 10 minutes. Cool. Allow ice cream to soften slightly and put on top of crust. Freeze.

Just before serving, beat until firm egg whites, sugar and cream of tartar. Spread on top of frozen pie. Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Bake pie for 4 to 5 minutes. Remove from oven and cut into serving pieces with hot fudge drizzled over the pie. Use chocolate sauce recipe which follows.
