SCOTCH BARS 
2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. salt
1 c. nuts
2/3 c. shortening, melted
2 c. light brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten lightly
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips

Sift flour once, measure, add baking powder and soda and salt and sift again. Add nuts. Mix together shortening and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Add flour mixture a little at a time, turn into a greased 13 x 9 pan. Sprinkle chips on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes.
