MRS. CARROLL'S OATMEAL MACAROONS 
2 c. brown sugar
1 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. coconut
3 c. oatmeal
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. baking powder
2 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
Dash of salt

Cream brown sugar and shortening; add eggs and then the dry ingredient. Drop a scant tablespoon at a time onto cookie sheet and bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. A pecan half on top of each cookie before baking is a nice addition.
