“APPLE AND ONION TARTLETS” IS IN:

APPLE AND ONION TARTLETS 
4 onions, thinly sliced
1 garlic clove, finely minced
1 1/2 tbsp. butter
3 large yellow apples, peeled, cleaned and sliced
1/2 cup white dry wine
1/2 tsp. freshly ground nutmeg
salt and pepper, to taste
paprika, for decoration
8 oz. Swiss cheese (or any cheese that melts easily when heated)
24 prepared mini tart shells (or tartlets)

Sauté onion slices in preheated butter and add a bit later the garlic. When the onions begin to turn transparent add the apple slices and cook for 5 minutes. Add the cheese, wine and the nutmeg and continue cooking until the mix is very soft and the wine has completely evaporated. Season with salt and pepper, to taste.

Fill the tartlets with this mix and sprinkle the surface wit a small amount of paprika (only as a decorative detail) and place into a preheated oven at 375°F, baking until the top surface browns a little bit.

Note: You can also heat the tartlets in the oven and then just broil the upper surface.

Makes 24 tartlets.
