ITALIAN STEAK | |
2 1/2 to 3 lbs. sirloin steak, chopped 1/4 c. vegetable oil 1 c. flour 1 tbsp. salt 1 tbsp. pepper 1 (16 oz.) jar pizza sauce 2 lg. green peppers 1 (8 oz.) can mushroom pieces 1 lg. onion 3 (8 oz.) pkgs. Mozzarella cheese 1/3 c. water Combine flour, salt and pepper in small bowl. Pour oil into frying pan and heat. Shape steak into 1/2 inch thick patties and flour both sides. Brown in hot oil about 5 to 8 minutes on each side. Place steak in a 9 x 14 inch baking pan. Slice green pepper and onions over top of steak. Add mushroom pieces. Pour pizza sauce over steak and vegetables. Rinse the sauce jar with 1/3 cup water and pour in pan. Spread cheese over top, covering all steak mixture. Bake in 350 degree oven for 20 to 25 minutes until cheese is melted and browned. Serves 5 or 6. |
