CRANBERRY BREAD 
4 c. plain flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. buttermilk
2 c. fresh cranberries
1 c. dates
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
3 eggs
3/4 c. vegetable oil
1 c. nuts
2 tsp. grated orange rind

Sift together dry ingredients; mix eggs, buttermilk, oil and orange rind. Add to dry ingredients and mix well until batter is smooth. Fold in cranberries, nuts and dates. Bake in greased tube pan at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Let cool for 10 minutes. Pierce cake with toothpick and pour over it 1/4 cup orange juice mixed with 1/4 cup sugar.
