DOUG'S OVEN EGGS | |
16 slices white bread, cut into 4ths 1 lb. sharp cheese, grated 2 c. cubed ham 8 extra lg. eggs 2 c. milk 3/4 lb. melted butter Using a very large casserole dish (9 x 14 inch) line 1/2 of bread quarters in greased casserole. Cover with 1/2 of cheese and 1/2 of ham. Repeat layers. Combine egg and milk; beat thoroughly. Pour evenly over bread mixture. Drizzle melted butter on top. Refrigerate, covered 12-24 hours. Place (loosely covered with foil) casserole in a large pan of hot water (3/4 inch deep) in 400 degree oven for 50 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Uncover last 15 minutes of baking time to crisp top. |
