2 c. flour
1 c. brown sugar, packed
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sour milk
1 tsp. baking soda
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla

Beat butter and brown sugar until creamy. Add dry ingredients. Remove 1 cup and set aside. Add sour milk with soda to remainder of mixture. Add egg and vanilla. Grease 9-inch round or square pan and fill. Add crumb topping and bake at 350°F for 45 minutes until toothpick can be removed clean. I fondly called Aunt Mary, "Mamie." I had lived with she and Uncle Earl at various times my life for several years when I was an infant and later when I was a young woman. They always made sure my needs were met and supplied me with pretty fashionable items that every teenage girl yearns for. She was my second mother. She and Uncle Earl (known as Pootsie) were grandparents to our Lorie.
