1 1/2 c. boiling water
1 c. quick oatmeal
1 stick butter
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon

Pour hot water over butter and oats. When cool, add the remaining ingredients. Beat well. Place in long cake pan and bake at 350°F for 40 minutes or more if needed.

Topping:

1 c. brown sugar
1 c. coconut
1/2 c. evaporated milk
4 tbsp. butter
1 c. nuts

Mix all ingredients together and spread on cake. Place under broiler until it bubbles.
