PATTEN MAINE BROWNIES 
2 c. sugar
1 c. butter
4 eggs
1 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
6 squares baking chocolate, melted
2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped walnuts

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs. Add flour, melted chocolate, vanilla, salt and nuts. Bake in greased and floured pan at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Cool before frosting.

FROSTING:

2 c. sifted confectioners' sugar
2 tbsp. cocoa
2 tbsp. butter
4 tbsp. cream

Put all ingredients in pan. Place on stove and cook on medium heat until boils around edge of pan. Take off heat and beat while warm until thick enough to spread.
