This use for stale bread is more fun than a recipe. All you need is one piece of stale bread.

Make sure bread is stale and hard. I find that acrylic is the best paint to use. Paint applies easily. Complete your picture, then allow to dry. You may want to apply varnish to preserve. I find spray varnish sold in art stores is the best. Give this a shot. It's really a piece of cake. (No bun intended)
