TOMATO ICEBERG PICKLES 
7 lb. green tomatoes, sliced
2 gallons cold water
3 c. lime
5 lb. sugar
3 pt. vinegar
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. celery seed

Soak tomatoes in water in which lime has been dissolved (strain before putting in tomatoes). Soak 24 hours in lime water. Drain and soak for 4 hours in fresh, cold water. Change water every hour.

Make a syrup of sugar, vinegar and remaining spices. Bring to a boil. Pour over tomatoes and let stand overnight. Next morning, boil 1 hour and seal in hot jars. Yield 10 pints. May also be used with cucumbers.
