APPLE BROWN BETTY 
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. salt
2 c. toasted bread cubes
1/4 c. melted butter
6 c. peeled and sliced apples
1 c. hot water

Sift or stir together dry ingredients; stir in bread cubes and melted butter. Spread half of apples in bottom of greased 1 1/2 quart baking dish. Sprinkle with half of bread cube mixture. Layer remaining apples over dry mixture; top with remaining bread mixture. Pour hot water over all. Bake at 350 degrees about 1 hour until apples are tender. Serve warm with cream.
