SWEET POTATO DEEP DISH PIE 
3 or 4 med. sweet potatoes
2 c. sugar
1 stick butter
Pastry for double crust pie

SAUCE:

3 c. milk
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. cinnamon (optional)
1/4 tsp. ginger (optional)
1/4 tsp. nutmeg (optional)

Wash and boil potatoes; let cool. Peel and slice 1/8 to 1/4 inch pieces into pie shell. Sprinkle with sugar, dot with butter. Repeat until dish is full. Cover with pie crust. Slit crust in several places. Dot with butter. Bake at 350 degrees until crust is brown.

SAUCE: Combine ingredients in saucepan and simmer until sugar is melted. Pour over pie. Serve hot or cold. I do not use the spices. But some like the spicy taste.
