CHERRY DESSERT SQUARES 
1 pkg. yellow cake mix (double layer size)
1 1/4 c. rolled oats, divided
1/2 c. butter, divided
1 egg
1 can cherry pie filling
1/2 c. chopped nuts
2 tbsp. brown sugar

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In mixing bowl, combine cake mix, 6 tablespoons butter, and 1 cup rolled oats. Mix until crumbly. Remove 1 cup crumbs and set aside for topping. Add egg to mixture still in bowl. Mix well. Pat into a well oiled 9 x 13 pan. Spread cherry pie filling over top. To the reserved 1 cup of crumbs, add the remaining 2 tablespoons butter, 1/4 cup of rolled oats, nuts, and brown sugar. Mix until crumbly. Sprinkle over cherries. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 45 minutes or until golden brown.
