DOUBLE DIPPED FISH | |
your favorite fish (fillet, nuggets or whole pieces) cooking oil (canola is the best or vegetable oil) all-purpose flour egg water garlic powder oregano salt and pepper Get your oil ready at about medium-high to high. Add flour to a bowl or breading tray and set aside. Prepare homemade fish batter in a small to medium bowl (bowls vary depending on how much fish is being fried). Add the right amount of flour (about 1 to 2 cups) to 2 eggs (slightly beaten) and to 1 to 2 cups of water. Season the fish with garlic, oregano, salt and pepper. CAREFUL NOT OVER SEASON.. use just enough to coat the fish. Coat your seasoned fish with flour and shake off any excess flour. Dip your floured fish in your homemade batter, then slowly take it out of the batter and let any excess batter drip off. HERE'S A TIP: To see if the oil is hot enough, try taking a pinch of flour and drop it into the oil.. If it sizzles that means your oil is HOT!!! Slowly place your floured and battered fish in the oil. If your pot/pan is big enough, you should be able to fit a least 7 to 8 pieces in. Let them cook for about 6 to 8 minutes, or until golden brown. FOR WHOLE FISH: Follow the original "Double-Dipped Fish" recipe". If you want nuggets you have to cut them into 1/4 pieces or smaller.
