QUICK PUFFED WHEAT MOLASSES
BALLS
 
1/2 c. molasses
3/4 c. granulated sugar
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. water
2 tbsp. butter
2/3to 1 pkg. Quaker Puffed Wheat
1 c. chopped peanuts or pecans

Cook molasses, sugar, salt and water in a 2 quart saucepan to the soft ball stage. Add butter and continue to cook, stirring constantly until a few drops form a hard, brittle ball in a cup of cold water. Add Quaker Puffed Wheat and nuts and stir quickly to distribute through the syrup. Turn out immediately onto buttered waxed paper and form quickly into balls. Yield: about sixteen 3 inch balls.
