MOLASSES POPCORN BALLS 
3/4 c. water
1 1/2 c. dark molasses
1 1/2 c. brown sugar (firmly packed)
1 tbsp. vinegar
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/8 tsp. cream of tartar
3/4 c. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
3 qts. popcorn, (lightly salted)

Mix first six ingredients in large saucepan; place on low heat and stir until sugar is dissolved. Bring to boiling point and cook slowly until a small amount dropped in cold water forms soft ball. Add butter and continue to cook to hard ball stage. Remove from heat. Add vanilla and pour slowly over popcorn. Mix with wooden spoon. Form into balls about 2 1/2 inch in diameter. Yield: approximately 24.
