DILLY CASSEROLE BREAD | |
1 pkg. active dry yeast 1/4 c. lukewarm water 1 c. large curd cottage cheese 2 tbsp. sugar 1 tbsp. instant minced onions 1 tbsp. butter 2 tsp. dill seeds 1 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. baking soda 1 egg 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 c. sifted flour Sprinkle yeast in lukewarm water; stir to dissolve. Heat cottage cheese in saucepan until lukewarm. Combine cottage cheese, sugar, onion, butter, dill seeds, salt, baking soda, egg, and yeast in bowl. Add flour a little at a time, to make a stiff batter; beat well after each addition. Cover and let rise in warm place until doubled, 30-40 minutes. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-50 minutes. Cover with foil last 15 minutes of baking if necessary to prevent excessive browning. Remove from casserole; cool on rack. Makes 1 loaf. |
