MERINGUE SHELL 
2 egg whites
1/8 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 c. sugar

Preheat oven to 275 degrees. In small mixing bowl beat egg whites slightly. Add cream of tartar and beat until frothy. Gradually beat in sugar, one tablespoon at a time. Beat until stiff and glossy.

Drop 1/3 cup meringue on heavy brown paper on baking sheet. Shape into 3 1/2-inch diameter shells with back of spoon. Bake at 275 degrees for 1 hour. Turn off oven and let them cool. Serve with ice cream, fruit or sauce. Makes 4.
