MAMA'S SECRET SPAGHETTI SAUCE | |
1 1/4 lb. ground beef 1 lb. Italian sausage 1 lb. onion, chopped 2 cloves garlic, chopped fine (1 1/2 tsp.) 2 (12 oz.) cans crushed tomatoes 2 (6 oz.) cans tomato paste 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce 1 c. bouillon 2 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. pepper 3 tbsp. sugar 1 tsp. basil 1 1/2 tsp. oregano leaves 2 sm. bay leaves, crushed 3/4 c. grated Parmesan cheese 1/2 lb. fresh sliced mushrooms Brown ground beef and sausage in skillet until brown, about 7 minutes. Add onions and garlic, cook about 5 minutes until limp. Stir in tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce, bouillon, salt and pepper, sugar, basil, oregano leaves. Simmer uncovered on low heat until sauce thickens about 2 1/2 hours; adjust season to taste. Stir often. Add mushrooms and cheese, continue cooking for about 30 minutes. |
