1 measuring c. meal (plain)
Stir this into 1 quart boiling water. Add teaspoon salt. Let cook 1 hour in double boiler, then mix 1 cup grated cheese into above. Put into greased casserole, scattering some cheese on top. Cook in oven about 40 minutes at 350 degrees.
Sauce for Polenta: 1 onion, chopped 1/2 clove garlic, chopped 1 sm. can mushrooms 3 strips bacon, chopped 2 tbsp. flour 2 1/2 c. tomatoes Salt and pepper
Mix ground round, onions, garlic, and bacon. Saute in small amount of fat for 15 minutes. Sprinkle with flour. Mix. Add tomatoes and mushrooms. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Simmer slowly about 20 minutes. Spread over polenta and serve from casserole.
