ORANGE FRUIT CAKE 
1/2 c. butter
1 c. Sugar
2 Eggs
3/4 c. Milk
2 c. Self-rising flour
1 tbsp. grated orange rind
18 oz. pitted dates, chopped
1 c. nuts, chopped

Icing:

1 stick butter
6 tbsp. Milk
1 box Confectioner's Sugar
1 tsp. Sugar
1 tsp. Vanilla

Cream together the butter and sugar. Add slightly beaten eggs, milk and flour. Add the orange rind, dates and nuts. Pour into cake pans and cook on 350°F until layers are done. When layers come from the stove, pour this mixture over while hot. 3/4 c. orange juice plus 1 tbsp. and 1 c. sugar.

For icing, measure butter, milk and sugar into heavy saucepan. Heat to boiling, stirring well. Add confectioner's sugar and vanilla. Mix well and ice cake.
