SNICKERDOODLES (WWII RECIPE) 
1 c. soft shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

ROLLING MIX:

2 tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Mix the shortening, sugar and eggs together thoroughly. Sift and stir in the flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt.

Roll mixture into balls the size of small walnuts. Roll the balls into the mixture of 2 teaspoons cinnamon and 2 tablespoons sugar. Place about 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes until lightly browned, but still soft.
