COMPANY CHOCOLATE CAKE 
1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
5 eggs
4 (1 oz.) sq. melted chocolate
2 1/2 c. cake flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. sour milk or buttermilk
2 tsp. vanilla

Thoroughly cream shortening and sugar; add eggs, one at a time. Beat well after each addition. Add chocolate and mix well. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with sour milk and vanilla. Bake in 3 (9 inch) layer cake pans or oblong 13 x 9 inch pan at 350 degrees. Bake 30 minutes for layers and 45 minutes for oblong pan.
