2 c. white sugar
1 c. Crisco or butter
1 c. buttermilk or sour milk
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
pinch of salt
5 c. flour (or enough flour to make soft dough)

Roll out and cut with cookie cutters.

Bake at 400°F for 7 to 8 minutes.
