PINEAPPLE LAYER BARS 
1/4 c. soft butter
1 c. brown sugar, packed firm
1 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. flaked coconut

Cream butter and brown sugar; add flour, salt and coconut. Mix with fingers until like crumbs. Press 1/2 of mixture firmly into greased and floured baking pan, 9"x9"x2". Spread pineapple filling evenly over surface. Cover with remaining crumb mixture; press top layer down firmly. Bake in 350 degree oven for 35 minutes.

PINEAPPLE FILLING:

1/2 c. sugar
3 tbsp. cornstarch
1/4 tsp. salt

Stir together in a saucepan. Add 1 (9 oz.) can crushed pineapple, including syrup. Cook and stir constantly until thickened and clear after boiling about 5 minutes. Remove from heat. Stir in 1 tablespoon butter and 1 tablespoon lemon juice.
