GINGERSNAPS 
3/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. molasses
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp. cloves
2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger

Cream shortening and sugar. Add molasses and egg; beat well. Mix in flour sifted with baking soda, salt and spices. Roll dough into balls and then roll balls in sugar. Bake on greased cookie sheet at 350°F for 15 minutes.

Makes about 4 dozen cookies.
