DATE LOAF CANDY 
2 c. sugar
1 c. milk
1/4 c. butter
1 c. dates, chopped
1 tsp. vanilla

Combine sugar, milk and butter in saucepan. Boil until a drop forms a hard ball when dropped into cold water. Add dates, nuts and vanilla. You may add OR substitute coconut for nuts. Thoroughly wet a cloth and lay on a counter. Pour the candy on the cloth and roll up in the cloth. Let it set overnight or until hard and the cloth is dry. Unroll and slice.
