CHRISTMAS DATE LOAF CANDY 
2 cups milk
3 cups sugar
1 cup dates, chopped
1 cup pecans, chopped
1 tsp. vanilla

Cook milk and sugar until mixture forms a soft ball in cold water (234-240°F on candy thermometer).

Remove from heat; stir in dates. Continue cooking until mixture forms a firm ball in cold water (244-248°F on candy thermometer).

Remove from heat; stir in nuts and vanilla. Cool.

When very thick, pour onto a damp cloth. Shape into a roll.

Wrap roll in waxed paper and chill. Cut in quarter-inch slices.

Cooks Note: Use of a candy thermometer is recommended.
