PLUM AND PEACH COMPOTE 
1 c. sugar
1 c. water
Rind of 1/2 lemon
Juice of 1 orange
1 stick cinnamon
3 peaches, peeled
6 plums
Juice of 1 lemon

1. Combine sugar, water, lemon rind, orange juice and cinnamon stick in a saucepan and boil until the mixture is a syrupy consistency.

2. Add peaches, cover and boil slowly until tender. Remove peaches.

3. Pierce plums with a fork and boil in the same syrup until tender. Remove plums and simmer until the syrup thickens. Remove lemon rind.

4. Add lemon juice to the syrup and pour over the fruit. Serves 4.
