TEXAS HASH 
1/2 c. onion, chopped
2 tbsp. shortening
1 lb. hamburger
1/2 c. uncooked rice
1 pkg. frozen peas
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. chili powder
1 c. green pepper, chopped
1 #2 can tomatoes

Cook peppers and onions in shortening until onions are clear, stir in hamburger, salt, chili powder and rice. Pour mixture into baking dish. Place peas in center of mixture. Pour tomatoes over top. Cover and bake 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Serves 6-8. Serve with corn bread and fruit salad.
