DATE LOAF CANDY 
2 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. dates
1 c. pecans
1 c. milk
1 tbsp. butter
Powdered sugar

Mix sugar, milk and butter. Cook until it forms soft ball when dropped into cold water (236 to 238 candy thermometer). Add chopped dates and cook until melted. Stir in nuts and beat until stiff. Pour on damp cloth, roll, wrap in cloth and chill. Sprinkle powdered sugar onto roll, cut into 1/2 inch slices.
