DATE LOAF CANDY 
2 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. milk
1/2 lb. dates
3/4 c. chopped nuts

Cook milk, sugar and dates to a soft boil stage, stirring as needed to prevent burning. Remove from heat and cool. Beat until candy begins to harden. Add nuts and turn onto a damp cloth. Shape into a roll 2 inches in diameter. Let roll stand until firm, then cut into slices.
