DATE LOAF CANDY 
2 c. sugar
1 c. milk
1 sm. pkg. chopped dates or raisins
4 tbsp. butter
Pinch of salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. broken pecans or walnuts

Combine sugar, milk, dates, and butter. Cook to a soft ball stage. Remove from heat and add salt, vanilla, and nuts. Beat until very thick.

Pour in a thin strip on a towel that is slightly damp. Roll up and leave until cool. Slice.
