DATE LOAF CANDY 
2 c. sugar
1 c. milk
1 tsp. butter
1 pkg. dates, pitted
2 c. pecans, chopped

Boil sugar and milk until it forms a soft ball in water. Then put in the package of pitted dates and let cook until dates are soft. Put in 2 cups pecans. Take off stove and beat until stiff. Wet a dish-drying towel, put the candy on it and roll into a long roll about 2-3 inches wide. Cut into slices before completely cool.
