MOIST DATE NUT LOAF 
1 1/2 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped nuts
1 (8 oz.) pkg. chopped dates
1 stick butter
1 c. boiling water

Mix dry ingredients with nuts and dates. Melt butter in water, add to flour mixture. Add vanilla to water and butter first. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour. Keeps well wrapped in foil for a week or two. In freezer, indefinitely. Makes 2 (3"x7") or 1 medium.
