3 c. all-purpose flour
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. cocoa
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. vanilla
2 tbsp. vinegar
3/4 c. vegetable oil
2 c. water

Sift dry ingredients together. Place in an 8x12-inch ungreased cake pan. Make 3 holes in the dry mixture (like little wells). Into one hole place 2 teaspoons vanilla; into second place 2 tablespoons vinegar and into third place 3/4 cup vegetable oil.

Then pour 2 cups water over all and stir until all the ingredients are moistened and the cake is "just" mixed (not smooth -- it takes only a few minutes by hand.). Bake at 350°F for 40 to 45 minutes. Let cool and frost or serve with whipped cream.
