BUTTER SANDWICH COOKIES 
1 lb. butter
3 oz. cream cheese
5 oz. Crisco
6 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/4 c. sugar
1 lg. or 2 sm. eggs
Pinch of salt

Mix Crisco, butter, and cream cheese with sugar, a little at a time. Add egg, salt, and vanilla; beat well. Add flour. Form into 4-6 logs. Wrap in wax paper (chill overnight or can be frozen). Slice thin. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet 8-10 minutes at 375 degrees. Immediately remove from cookie sheet. Spread jelly or jam on cookie/top with another. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar.
