1/2 c. water
1/2 c. sugar
1 c. scalded milk
2 tbsp. Crisco
1 tbsp. butter
Flour to make soft sponge (about 3 c.)
1 tsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
