ORANGE STREUSEL CAKE | |
1 pkg. active dry yeast 2 - 2 1/4 c. all purpose flour 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 c. warm water 1 tbsp. sugar 2 tbsp. soft butter 1 egg 2 tbsp. orange marmalade STREUSEL TOPPING: 1/2 c. sugar 1/2 c. all purpose flour 1 tbsp. grated orange peel 1 tbsp. orange juice 1/3 c. melted butter 2 tbsp. chopped almonds Add yeast to warm water in bowl. Stir until dissolved; add egg. Add 1 cup flour, sugar, marmalade and salt. Beat until smooth. Add butter. Add remaining flour, a little at a time, that makes a dough that leaves the side of the bowl. Knead until smooth. Knead on lightly floured surface a few minutes. Place dough in greased bowl, turning once. Cover and let rise 50 minutes. Prepare topping: Blend together all ingredients with fork until it resembles coarse crumbs. Punch dough down. Press evenly into greased pan. Sprinkle Streusel topping over dough. Let rise until doubled, about 25 minutes. Bake at 375 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes until golden. |
