OLD FASHIONED BEAN SOUP 
1 1/2 c. navy beans
1/2 lb. bacon or ham
8-10 sm. potatoes
2 c. cooked or canned carrots
1 med. onion
Salt and pepper to taste

Wash beans. Soak in 3 cups water overnight. Cook in water soaked in (add more water if needed). Simmer several hours. Add bacon or ham, cut in pieces. Add potatoes, peeled and sliced. Add carrots, onion and seasoning. Cook. Flavor improves with reheating.
