WONDERFUL APPLE PIE | |
Pastry for one 10" pie crust 1 c. light brown sugar 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour 1 1/2 tsp. Durkee's apple pie spice 1/2 c. butter 6-8 tart apples or 2 #2 cans apple pie filling Make pastry for 1 crust pie. Mix together flour, apple pie spice, brown sugar and butter until crumbly. Spread about 1/3 of this mixture over bottom of unbaked pastry. Peel apples, core and cut in eighths. Place apples in crust. Spoon remaining sugar and spice mixture over apples. Bake in preheated 425 degree oven for 50-55 minutes. (If you prefer a two crust pie, put top crust over sugar and spice mixture.) |
