1 lb. butter
6 or 7 eggs
2 c. sugar
2 c. plain flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. cream of tartar

Separate eggs and beat whites. Cream butter and sugar. Add egg yolks and beat. Add flour, 1 cup at a time a time. Add vanilla and cream of tartar. Beat. Add egg whites last. Bake in a tube pan at 350 degrees until done.
