CHOCOLATE - CHIP OATMEAL COOKIES 
1 c. plus 2 tbsp. unsifted all-purpose flour
1 c. quick-cooking oatmeal
2 tbsp. Dutch-process unsweetened cocoa
3/4 tsp. baking soda
3/4 c. (1 1/2 sticks) salted butter, softened
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. firmly packed light brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 (6 oz.) pkg. semisweet chocolate pieces
1/2 c. walnuts, chopped

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease cookie sheets. Stir together flour, oatmeal, cocoa, and baking soda in bowl. Beat together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar in large bowl until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Stir in flour mixture until well blended. Fold in chocolate pieces and walnuts.

Drop batter by teaspoonfuls onto prepared cookie sheets, leaving 2-inches between cookies. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned on top. Let stand on sheets 3 minutes. Remove cookies to racks to cool.
