3 boxes Duncan Hines white cake mix 3 or 4 drops almond flavoring Prepare cake mix as directed adding the almond flavoring; mix well. Grease and flour 2 pans. Divide batter into half, using 1 1/2 boxes of cake mix per pan. Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 15 minutes. Do not overbake. Leave in pans and ice with wedding cake icing recipe below. Spread icing on as smooth as possible. Next trim away about 1/4" of cake edges all around cake and cut pan of cake into about 2" squares. Then leave plain or decorate each square as desired. Makes approximately 35 squares per pan. Depends on the size of the square you cut. WEDDING CAKE ICING: 1 1/2 c. solid Crisco 3 boxes confectioners' sugar 3 tsp. vanilla 3 or 4 drops almond flavoring Milk, as needed Put all ingredients in large mixing bowl and mix with mixer. Add milk a little at a time until you reach the spreading consistency you need. Some of the icing can be put in a small bowl and food coloring added for decorating each cake square. This icing recipe can be reduced or doubled to suit your need. |
