GRAMIE'S DUMPLINGS 
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tbsp. shortening
1 egg
1/2 tsp. salt
water (enough to make a dough)

Add baking powder and salt to flour. Cut in shortening. Add egg and enough water to make a dough. Roll out very thin on a lightly floured board. Cut into strips, size as desired, and drop into boiling chicken stock. Let stew until done.

Note: If a fryer is used instead of a stewing hen, add some butter to the stock for an improvement of flavor.
