REFRIGERATOR COOKIES 
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
3/4 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tbsp. water
1 tsp. vanilla
3 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. nuts, chopped

Dissolve soda in water. Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs, soda/water mixture and vanilla. Mix well. Add flour and nuts. Mix well. Make 2 rolls, wrap each in wax paper, place in refrigerator. When ready to bake, slice 1/8-inch thick, bake at 350°F for 10 to 12 minutes.
