NEW YEAR'S EGGNOG 
1/3 c. sugar
2 egg yolks
4 c. milk, whole
2 egg whites
3 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
Brandy or rum flavoring
Ground nutmeg

Beat the 1/3 cup sugar into egg yolks. Add 1/4 teaspoon salt. Stir into milk. Cook and stir over medium heat until mixture coats a metal spoon; cool. Beat egg whites until foamy. Gradually add the 3 tablespoons sugar, beating to soft peaks. Add to egg mixture and mix well. Add vanilla and flavoring to taste. Chill. Pour egg mixture into punch bowl. Sprinkle with nutmeg. Yield: 8 (4 ounce) servings.
